About: Mr Men
Part of English popular culture for over 40 years.
Roger Hargreaves, an English author and illustrator, created the first Mr Men and Little Miss characters in 1971. Intended for very young readers, the books featured simple and silly stories, brightly coloured and boldly illustrated. Over succeeding generations, the Mr Men and Little Miss characters have been plucked from the books and made available in an extensive range of giftware, from mugs to lunchboxes, water bottles and magnets.
Recognisable and relatable, Mr Men and Little Miss characters embody a variety of personality traits which, when combined with the brand’s iconic status, makes the giftware range suitable for ages one to 100.
Fun fact: Mr Happy and Mr Tickle are among the very first Mr Men characters to be drawn, Mr Tickle being the first, in answer to Roger Hargreaves’ six-year-old son Adam’s question, “What does a tickle look like?”
